Do you serve Wolfe Island, Howe Island and Amherst Island?
Yes. Shea Plumbing works on Wolfe Island (including Marysville), Howe Island, Simcoe Island and Amherst Island (Stella and Emerald). Call (613) 449-1758. We'll check the ferry times and give you an honest arrival estimate before you book.
Getting to you
- Wolfe Island: the ferry from downtown Kingston to Marysville.
- Howe Island: the ferries from the east end of Kingston.
- Amherst Island: the ferry from Millhaven to Stella.
The crossing schedule decides how quickly we can reach you, especially late at night, so call as early as you can. We'll tell you which crossing we're aiming for.
Island plumbing is different
Many island homes are on a private well or draw water from the lake, with a pressure tank and a septic system instead of town water and sewer. That changes what goes wrong and how it's fixed.
- Wells, lake lines and pumps. Low pressure, a pump that short-cycles or a pressure tank that's lost its charge. We service well lines, lake lines, pressure tanks, pressure switches and pumps.
- Water you can drink. Lake water needs filtration and disinfection, usually a UV system, before it's safe to drink. See water filtration.
- Frozen lines. Wind off the lake finds every gap. See our frozen pipes guide.
- Septic. We install septic systems and handle the plumbing inside the house and the drain to the tank. Need the tank pumped? We'll arrange it for you.
Cottages on the islands
We close island cottages in the fall and open them in the spring, including the line from the lake and the pump, and we find and fix whatever the winter split.
One crossing, every job
If you have more than one thing to fix, list them all when you book, and send photos, so we bring the right parts and get it all done in one crossing.
In an emergency
Shut off the water at the main valve or the pump, keep clear of anything electrical that's wet, and call (613) 449-1758. We'll tell you straight away which ferry gets us to you.
